My ABC Skincare Routine

I’ve been having a lot of no makeup days but I still always love taking the time for a solid skincare routine at night. This is one of my regulars using my fav products from Deciem - The Abnormal Beauty Company. I really love this umbrella brand; which is mama to The Ordinary , Hylamide and Abnomaly ( the three brands I'm using for this routine) . The Ordinary in particular is one of the best skincare brands I've used, and on top of being amazing, their products don't break the bank!

Hope you enjoy!!

1 - Remove Makeup with Hylamide “High Efficiency Face Cleaner

First things first ( especially if you have been wearing makeup ) this step is an essential! This face cleaner in particular is so great for getting rid of every trace of makeup. Its a water based cleaner, that acts so much like an oil! Thats why I love it, and think its compatible with my very acne prone skin! Sometimes I will use an oil to remove makeup, but water based products are always more appealing to me. I rub this all over my face with my hands, and then remove with a cotton pad. I do this rather than rinsing because I always double cleanse, so I am going to be washing my face after anyway. I make sure I do this step for at least 60 seconds.

2 - Double cleanse with The Ordinary “ Sqaulane Cleanser”

I am someone who is never completely satisfied with my skin’s texture, and I live constantly in the hope that one day ill find the secret to miraculously making my pores disappear. I jumped on the The 60-Second Rule hype to see if this could be it.... and I LOVE it!

“Cleansing your face for 60 seconds allows the ingredients in the cleanser to actually work.  Most ppl wash their face for like 15 seconds max.  It softens the skin & dissolves sebum blockages better…

Makeup, dirt, and oil are a lot more difficult to remove from the skin most people realize, so not only do you want to give the cleanser a chance to break down and dissolve products and grime, but taking 60 seconds also makes you pay attention to your skin and what you’re doing—like remembering to cleanse around the edges of your nose, under your chin, and around your hairline.”

I now religiously follow this technique with cleansing and moisturising. With this product its simple... pop a small dollop of cleanser in the hands and rub together to so the product almost melts into an oil. Massage onto damp face for 60 secs and rinse with warm water!

3 - Toner spritz with Hylamide “SubQ Mist”

This product is a mix of hylaronic acid, Green tea, Golden Eye Grass Root and Pepperberry. Which basically calms soothes and hydrates the skin! A few spritz of this is a perfect quick fix toner after cleansing!

4 - The Ordinary “Hyaluronic Acid"

This is my ride or die!! This light serum combines 3 types of hyaluronic acid which attracts up to 1000 times its weight in water. This means its sole purpose in life is to hydrate and plump the skin at all levels of the dermis. Using this definitely makes my skin feel smoother, softer and healthier. I mix this with the serum below and rub them in at the same time with my fingers.

5 - “Niacinamide + Zinc”

This is a serum that helps to combat blemishes, congestions and sebum over-production, which because because I am acne prone, I really need in my routine. Niacinamide + Zinc reduce both future breakouts and the appearance of existing blemishes, because pores remain clear and decongested from blemish-causing bacteria.

6 - The Ordinary “Retinol in Sqaulane”

Retinol does a lot for me! Also known at Vitamin A, this product minimises fine lines and exfoliating, aiding in the production of collagen ( which reduces the signs of ageing) . Its very thin and lightweight! I use sparingly and I use it quickly after the serums ,otherwise I find it can bobble when its apply to a tacky face. Its also best to not rub this product too much! Retinols don’t work equally as well on everyone and you shouldn’t touch the stuff if you suffer from sensitive skin conditions. This comes in different strengths, and can make your skin sensitive. So start at the lowest percentage and gradually work your way up when your skin gets used to it.

7 - The Ordinary “ Natural Moisturizing Factors + HA”

A moisturiser packed with Hyloronic acid....whats more to say. Its such a lovely hydrating product and a great way cement all your previous steps! I only use this at night, as during the day I have a specific SPF moisturiser I like to use, however this can be used anytime of the day, and under makeup!

8 - Abnomaly “Petrowhat?Lip & Skin Ointment

Squalane and Baobab Oil make up this formula, which means you feel the moisture in an instant when using these! They don't taste great, (so no licking your lips) but they definitely do the job!
